The St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team defeated host Utica College 20-12 on Saturday. Fisher scored the final three goals of the first half to take a 9-5 lead into the locker room and scored the first five goals of the second half to take command.
With the win, Fisher improves to 10-4 on the year and 7-1 in the Empire 8 Conference. The Cardinals will be the No. 2 seed for next weekend's Empire 8 Conference Championship and will play No. 3 Stevens Institute of Technology at 2 p.m. on Saturday at top-seeded Nazareth College. If Fisher wins, the Cardinals will play on Sunday at Nazareth in the championship game. Fisher defeated host Nazareth College in overtime last year to win the program's first Empire 8 title.
