The St. John Fisher College women’s lacrosse team improved to 4-2 overall, 1-0 in the Empire 8 with a convincing
18-1 win over visiting Alfred on Saturday.
The Cardinals, who jumped out to a four-goal lead midway through the first half, scored 14 unanswered goals over the remainder of the game, including three consecutive goals from
Laurie Quackenbush (Penn Yan Academy/Penn Yan) to close out the first stanza.
Quackenbush finished with five points on four goals and one assist to lead the Cardinals, while
Mary Stimson (Cicero-North Syracuse/Cicero) (two goals),
Dana DiIorio (Corning West/Painted Post) (two goals),
Jackie Maynard (Marcus Whitman/Stanley) (two goals),
Ashley Fenyn (Newark/Newark) (two goals),
Jill Lockwood (Clarence/Clarence) (two goals)
Emily Burkhardt (Livonia/Livonia) (one goal, one assist),
Courtney Clare (West Genesee/Camillus) (one goal, one assist) and
Lauren Glavin (Corcoran/Syracuse) (one goal, one assist) each finished with two points for the Cardinals in the win.
Jen Cardinal (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) and
Vicki Sahm (Bishop Ludden/Baldwinsville) each scooped up a game-best four ground balls, with
Sahm making five saves between the pipes.
Fisher will return to action tomorrow at 1 p.m. to battle host R.I.T. in an Empire 8 Conference game.
