The St. John Fisher College men's tennis team suffered a tough loss on Tuesday night, falling to the Alfred University Saxons 5-4.

Karl Schiefer (Liverpool/Liverpool) was instrumental in two of Fisher's points, as he earned a 6-2, 6-1 win at fourth singles, and teamed with Donnie Sherman (Elmira Southside/Elmira) for an 8-0 win in second doubles action.

Jake VanBuren (Canandaigua Academy/Canandaigua) and Mike O'Connor (Bishop Grimes/Syracuse) also earned points for the Cardinals with straight-set wins at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.

Fisher will return to action at 4 p.m. on Thursday to battle host Elmira College in another Empire 8 Conference match.
