The St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse team had its program-best six-game win-streak snapped on Saturday with an 8-7 loss to host Hartwick College. Fisher (6-1), who had won three straight over Hartwick over the last two seasons, scored the first three goals in the second half and led 6-3, but the Hawks responded with five answered goals and took the lead for good with 4:52 remaining.
Fisher trailed 3-1 late in the first half, but tied the game going into the break, as Mike Cummins and Chris Schmidt each scored in the final 2:05 in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, Fisher's Scott Bowen, Dave Malone and Dennis Bell each scored a goal in the first 5:19 of the second half to take a 6-3 lead.
Malone finished with two goals, while Jeff Price registered two assists. Matt Kaiser scored Fisher's first goal of the game.
Dave Wood won 15-of-18 face offs. Jon Cortina stopped five shots in the first half as Fisher's goalie, while Dan Serafine stopped two shots in the second half.
Fisher (6-1 overall, 1-1 Empire 8) will return to action on Wednesday and will host nationally-ranked Ithaca College.
