Women's Basketball Falls to .500 In Loss at Utica

Mary Kate Comfort scored a career-high 19 points, but it wasn't enough to lift the Cardinals to victory.
The St. John Fisher College women’s basketball program suffered a 76-52 loss at Utica College on Friday night.

With the game at 21-21 and 6:58 left in the first half, Utica went on a 14-1 run over the remainder of the opening period to take a 35-22 lead at intermission and kept a double-digit lead for the rest of the game.

Mary Kate Comfort led the Cardinals with a career-high 19 points, while Allison Boehm finished with 11.

With a 12-12 overall record and a 7-8 mark in the Empire 8 Conference, Fisher must now defeat host Hartwick College on Saturday AND hope for Elmira to beat visiting R.I.T. on Sunday in order to earn the fourth seed for the Empire 8 Conference Championship.

Fisher (12-12), the winningest program in NCAA Division III, will put a streak of 32 consecutive winning seasons on the line tomorrow.  Last year, Fisher finished with a 13-12 record and kept the streak alive after rallying from a 19-point deficit to defeat the visiting Hawks in the season finale.
