R.I.T. Battles Back To Beat Fisher In Women's Basketball

Mary Kate Comfort scored 16 of her career-high 18 points in the first 20 minutes.

Host Rochester Institute of Technology used a 16-3 run over a 10-minute span early in the second half and rallied to beat St. John Fisher College 65-57 in a key Empire 8 Conference women's basketball game on Friday.  WIth the loss, Fisher falls to 11-10 overall and 6-6 in the Empire 8.  It is the second straight year Fisher has reached double-digits in the loss-column, but just the third time in the program's 34-year history.  

Mary Kate Comfort, scored 16 of her career-high 18 points in the first half, as Fisher led by as many as eight points late in the first half.  The Cardinals, who led 36-32 at intermission, led by five points at 40-35 with just under 18 minutes left, but R.I.T. scored 16 of the game's next 19 points, taking the lead for good.

Comfort also grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked four shots, while Allison Boehm, finished with 15 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

Both Comfort and Boehm played the entire 40 minutes, while Meagan Tubbs, who tallied 10 points, five assists and three steals, racked up 39 minutes of action.

Tuesday's game marks the second time in the last three meetings that R.I.T. has defeated Fisher.  The Cardinals had won the first 19 meetings

Fisher will return to action on Friday and will host Elmira College.  Both Fisher and Elmira are tied for fourth in the Empire 8 standings.
