Volleyball Wins Two at Russell Sage

The St. John Fisher College volleyball team won two matches on Saturday at Russell Sage.
The St. John Fisher College volleyball team won two matches on Saturday at Russell Sage College. The Cardinals defeated Russell Sage 3-1 (25-23, 25-15, 15-25, 25-15) and Clarkson University 3-1 (23-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-19) to improve their overall record to 16-10. 

Alyssa Ziobrowski led Fisher with 14 kills and four aces against Russell Sage and added 10 kills along with 16 digs against Clarkson. Jenna Waldron had double-digit digs in both games, with 14 against Russell Sage and 20 versus Clarkson. Setter Elaina Braun totaled 62 assists in the two matches, with 38 assists coming in the second matchup with Clarkson.

On the season, Ziobrowski leads the team in kills with 291, while Braun leads the team in assists with 713. Defensively Fisher is led by Waldron's 555 digs while sophomore Sydney Kandefer  has a team-best 123 total blocks. In the last two weeks the Cardinals have been on a roll, wining four out of their last five matches.

The Cardinals will return to action next Saturday, October 25th, when they take on Elmira and Hartwick in Empire 8 crossover matches hosted by Ithaca College.
