In a back-and-forth game that featured 12 ties, the Cardinals held a one-point advantage (53-52) at the 2:07 mark, but the Ducks took the lead for good from the free throw line, and converted on six free throws over the remainder of the game to seal the win. The Cardinals, who shot 0-for-17 from 3-point range, failed to convert on a 3-point attempt for the first time since the 2002-2003 season.
Allison Boehm (Sacred Heart/Cheektowaga) led the Cardinals with a game-high 18 points and nine rebounds, while freshman
Colleen Maloney (Liverpool/Liverpool) tallied nine points, and five rebounds on 4-of-4 shooting from the floor.
Ashley Dean (Horseheads/Horseheads) scored eight points and grabbed five boards, with
Kristen Taliento (Rush-Henrietta/Henrietta) and
Mary Kate Comfort (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) adding six points apiece.
Dani Dudek paced the Ducks with 18 points and seven assists, while Brittany Fuller finished with 12 points. Dora Enright and Sarah Gehring notched nine points each in the victory.
