The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team improved to 2-1 on the season, defeating the visiting SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles 3-1.
Freshman forward Andrew McIntosh (Horseheads/Horseheads) made a long pass to classmate Michael Rooney (McQuaid/Pittsford), who headed the ball past the keeper, to lift the Cardinals to victory in the 50th minute of the game. McIntosh dribbled through multiple defenders and scored in the low right corner for an insurance goal in the 68th minute.
Sophomore Luke Lennox (Harley/Rochester) gave the Cardinals the initial lead, scoring off a David Garabedian (Ballston Lake/Shenendowa) pass in the game's seventh minute. The visiting Golden Eagles rallied however, and tied the game at one all in the 31st minute.
Goalkeeper Robert Weigand (Cheektowaga/Cheektowaga) recorded eight saves in the match, and earned his second victory of the season.
Fisher (2-1) will return to action next Wednesday to take on the visiting University of Rochester Yellowjackets.
