After two losses on the opening day of the SUNY Oneonta Invitational, the St. John Fisher College volleyball team posted a 3-0 victory over King's College, and a 3-1 win over SUNY Geneseo to close out the tournament.
In Fisher's 3-0 (30-28,30-27, 30-24) win over King's College, senior setter Hannah Cordes (Cazenovia/Cazenovia) led the cardinals offense, dishing out 42 assist, while recording 11 digs and seven kills. Fisher's Alyssa Ziobrowski (Lewiston-Porter/Lewiston) recorded a double-double, posting 17 kills and 15 digs, while middle-blocker Kayleigh Cassetta (Cicero-North Syracuse/Liverpool) recorded 11 kills and five blocks.
In their third match of the season against SUNY Geneseo, the Cardinals recorded an impressive .500 team hitting percentage (14 kills on 28 attempts, 0 errors), and rallied to win in four games. Jenna Waldron (Windsor/Windsor) lead Fisher with 17 digs, while Ziobrowski recorded another double-double with 18 kills and 16 digs in the match. Junior Jessie Pegler (Gates-Chili/Rochester) chipped in with 13 digs, 11 kills, and nine aces.
Fisher (7-12, 3-2 Empire 8) will return to action at 7 p.m. on Thursday to take on visiting Medaille.
