Action Begins In Crossover Tournament

At the end of the first day of the Empire 8 Crossover Tournament hosted by St. John Fisher College the standings are as follows:
 
Nazareth 2-0
Ithaca 1-1
Elmira 1-1
Alfred 0-2
 
In the opening match of the Empire 8 Crossover Tournament, Nazareth College posted a 3-1 win over Ithaca College.  Sophomore setter Kate Zwickl dished out an impressive 57 assists to lead the Nazareth offense, while Ithaca’s Amanda Hubbard led the Bombers with a team-high 17 kills.
 
Elmira College opened up the Tournament on the right foot, recording a 3-0 win over Alfred University.  Katie Schildwaster led the Soaring Eagles with 20 digs and nine kills, while teammate Carlie Cerne tallied team-highs of 20 assists and six service aces.
 
In the 7 p.m. match, Ithaca rebounded from their opening-match loss, recording a 3-0 win over Elmira.  Corinna Doctor led all players with 23 assists and six aces for the Bombers, while Susan Clark recorded 17 digs and seven kills for Elmira.
 
In the final match of the first day of action, the Nazareth College Golden Flyers cruised to a 3-0 win over Alfred University.  The Saxons were led by sophomore Emily Steen, who recorded 10 digs, four kills and an ace, while Kristi Custer recorded 10 kills for Nazareth.
 
Action will continue at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, when Nazareth College will take on Elmira College, and Alfred University will square off against Ithaca College.
