Volleyball Wins Over Potsdam

The St. John Fisher College women’s volleyball team earned its first win of the season, posting a 3-0 decision over SUNY Potsdam on the final day of the Rochester Institute of Technology tournament on Saturday. 
 
Fisher finished the tournament with a 1-3 overall record, losing to New York University and SUNY Geneseo on Friday and Clarkson University the following day.
 
For the tournament, the Cardinals were led by senior Hannah Cordes (Cazenovia/Cazenovia), who recorded 109 assists over the weekend, while tallying 35 digs and four aces. 
 
Alyssa Ziobrowski (Lewiston-Porter/Lewiston) tallied a team-leading 44 kills over the four-match span, while also adding 40 digs. 
 
Freshman Sydney Kandefer (Nardin Academy/Alden) also turned in a strong performance throughout the tournament, recording 24 kills, 15 blocks and a team-best nine service aces. 
 
Jenna Waldron (Windsor/Windsor) led Fisher with 80 digs, while Jessie Pegler (Churchville-Chili/Rochester) finished with 45 digs.
 
Kayleigh Cassetta (Cicero-North Syracuse/Liverpool) led the Cardinals with 19 blocks.   Katy Nesbitt (Bishop Kearney/Rochester) and Morgen Kandefer (Nardin Academy/Alden) each chipped in with 15 kills
 
The Cardinals (1-8) will return to action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday to take on visiting SUNY Oswego.
