Men's Lax Nearly Upsets No. 2 Team In The Nation

The St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse team came within seven minutes of defeating the No. 2 team in the country on Saturday.

Fisher (6-3, 2-2 Empire 8) battled Rochester Institute ot Technology to a 7-7 tie midway through the final quarter and had an extra-man advantage, but couldn't capitalize, and gave the final three goals as the host Tigers narrowly escaped with a 10-7 win over the Cardinals.

Matt Hargather finished with four goals, with his final one of the day tying the up with just over 10 minutes left.  Freshman Chris Schmidt added two goals and three assists, while Matt Kaiser also scored.

Sophomore Dave Wood won 14-of-20 face-offs and scooped up 11 ground balls, while senior goalie Brian Cummings stopped 15 shots.

RIT is 10-0.
