St. John Fisher College swept host Utica College in a softball-doubleheader on Saturday to improve to 19-9.
In game one, the Cardinals used a four-run seventh inning to earn a 10-7 victory. Sarah Gates went 2-4 with two RBIs, while second baseman Sara Dresser went 2-4 with a triple and four runs batted in. Jenna Hubbard earned a win in relief, allowing three hits, and striking out three batters in three innings of action.
In game two, Fisher scored eight runs over the final three innings to win 9-2. Junior outfielder Nicole Watkins went 2-3 with a double and an RBI, while Nicole Middleton recorded two hits in four plate appearances with a double and two runs batted in. Amanda Shevchuk allowed just five hits, and struck out two batters in a complete game effort.
The Cardinals will return to action at 3 p.m. on Sunday to take on University of Rochester.
