In the first-ever meeting between St. John Fisher College and Nazareth College on the softball diamond, the Cardinals came away with two shutout-victories on Friday.
Fisher (15-9 overall, 6-2 Empire 8) won the opener 8-0 in six innings. Kate Maurer hit a three-run homer, while Sara Dresser, Sarah Gates and Kim Barry each finished with two hits. Jessica Maurer fanned eight and allowed just two hits to pick her fifth win of the season.
In the nightcap, Fisher won 7-0. Nicole Watkins went 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs, while senior Laura Paul went 2-for-2 with a triple and two runs scored.
Fisher returns to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Alfred University.
