The St. John Fisher College women’s basketball team improved to 12-9 overall and 6-4 in the Empire 8 Conference with a 63-54 win over visiting Alfred on Tuesday.
The Cardinals used an 11-0 run over the opening 4:04 and led 34-24 at the half. Fisher enjoyed a double-digit lead until the final minute of the game.
Junior Allison Boehm (Sacred Heart/Cheektowaga) scored 11 of her game-high 16 points in the first half, while adding eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Freshman center Mary Kate Comfort (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) tallied her second career double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. She also blocked a career-high six shots.
Mary Francis (Gulf Coast/Naples, FL) chipped in with 13 points, four assists and three blocked shots.
Sophomore point guard Meagan Tubbs (Ticonderoga/Ticonderoga) finished with seven points and a game-high five assists, while teammates Jessica Ainslie (Honeoye/Honeoye) Kristen Taliento (Rush-Henrietta/Henrietta), Ashley Napoleone (Notre Dame/Batavia), and Christine Isselhard (Gananda/Macedon) each scored in the win.
Fisher will return to action at 6 p.m. on Friday to take on host Ithaca College in an Empire 8 Conference game.
