Fisher Falls To R.I.T. In Closing Moments

Visiting Rochester Institute of Technology used a 16-2 run over a 4:37 span in the second half to defeat host St. John Fisher College 70-68 on Saturday.   The game marks just the third loss at home for Fisher in the last 54 regular-season home games.  Fisher had also won 10 straight over R.I.T., prior to the loss.

Fisher, who led by 10 points at 47-37 with just over 16 minutes left, never regained the lead after the Tigers' run, which included three straight 3-pointers from Barrett Zeinfeld.  Dan McSweeney made two free throws with 44 seconds left to make it at 69-68.  RIT made 1-of-2 from free throws with 8.7 seconds, but Fisher failed to get off a final shot in the closing moments.

Freshman Matt Newman led the Cardinals with 15 points, while Dan McSweeney, Dan Mueller and Justin Beigel each finished with 10 points.

Fisher will return to action at 8 p.m. on Tuesday and will host Alfred University.
