Cardinals Fall to Elmira

Senior guard Mary Francis led the Cardinals with nine points in Saturday's loss to Elmira

The St. John Fisher College women's basketball team was defeated by host Elmira College on Saturday, losing 65-48.

With their College record 11th loss, the Cardinals now stand at 12-11 overall and 6-6 in the Empire 8.

Fisher led by as many as seven points in the first half, before Elmira took the lead for good, going on a 9-0 run in the closing minutes of first half.

The Cardinals pulled to within five points early in the second half, but came no closer, shooting 7-of-31 from the floor (22.6%) including 0-for-7 from 3 pt. range in the second half.

Senior guard Mary Francis led the Cardinals with nine points, and also added two assists and two rebounds.  Freshman center Mary Kate Comfort finished the game with eight points and 12 rebounds, while Junior forward Allison Boehm finished with eight points, four rebounds, two assists and six steals.

The Cardinals (12-11, 6-6 Empire 8) will return to action at 6 p.m. on Friday to take on visting Utica College.
