The St. John Fisher College men’s basketball team cruised to a
78-43 victory over host Alfred on Saturday night, and improved to 3-3 overall, 2-1 in the Empire 8.
The Cardinals opened the game with a 23-5 run over the opening ten minutes of action, and never looked back, maintaining a minimum 20-point cushion throughout the final period.
Sophomore
Chris Baltz (Vestal/Vestal) led all scorers with 15 points in his first game back after missing Thursday's contest, while
Justin Beigel (Colerain/Cincinnati, OH) and
Ozell Franklin (Rush-Henrietta/Henrietta) each added 12 points for the Cardinals.
Forward
Mark Bearden (Aquinas/Rochester) tallied nine points, nine boards and four assists, with
Matt Newman (Campbell Savona/Campbell) and
Brandon Witte (C.W. Baker/Baldwinsville) notching eight points apiece.
Fisher will return to action at 7 p.m. next Friday to take on the host University of Rochester Yellowjackets.
