Men's Basketball Falls To Nation's No. 1 Team

Senior Justin Beigel finished with 12 points, but it wasn't enough.

The St. John Fisher College men's basketball team suffered a 75-58 loss to host University of Rochester on Friday night.  The Yellowjackets, who entered the game ranked No. 1 in the latest d3hoops.com national poll, shot 56.9% from the floor, including 47.1% from 3-point range.

Fisher trimmed Rochester’s lead to four points at 21-17 with a traditional three-point-play from Chris Baltz with 4:53 left in the first half, but the Yellowjackets responded with seven straight points from Jon Onyiriuka and led 35-22 at intermission.

Baltz led Fisher with 14 points, while Justin Beigel added 12 points and six boards.  Freshman Ozell Franklin scored in double-figures for the fifth straight game and finished with 11 points.

Fisher will return to action on December 29th.
