The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team cruised to a 4-0 victory over host Elmira College on Sunday, improving to 7-4-1, 2-1 in the Empire 8.
Fisher's Luke Lennox (Harley/Rochester) paced the Cardinals, scoring two goals in the win, with Andrew McIntosh (Horseheads/Horseheads) and David Grabedian (Ballston Lake/Shenendowa) rounding out the scoring for Fisher.
The Cardinals opened up the game in the 22nd minute, when Robert Wick (Elmira Free Academy/Elmira) found Lennox, who placed the ball past the keeper in the low left. Just eight minutes later, McIntosh gave the Cardinals a two-goal advantage when he dribbled through the Soaring Eagles' defense and scored his fourth goal of the season.
In the second half, the Cardinals continued to pour it on, increasing their lead to three goals in the 48th minute when Lennox went to goal alone, and capped off the scoring in the 65th minute when freshman Eric Friedman (East Syracuse-Minoa/Syracuse) played the ball to the top of the six-yard box for Garabedian, who put it past the keeper.
The Cardinals defense held Elmira forwards to just five shots over the 90 minutes, making easy work for Fisher goalie Adam Durst (Gates Chili/Rochester), who recorded three saves.
Fisher will return to action at 7 p.m. on Saturday to take on visiting Kueka College.
