Fisher Women's Tennis Wins Two On the Road

The St. John Fisher College women’s tennis team improved to 6-5 overall, 3-4 in the Empire 8 with road victories over Hartwick College and Utica College over the weekend.
 
The Cardinals squared off against host Hartwick College on Saturday and earned a 6-3 victory.  In the deciding match at first singles, Laura Hale (Perry/Warsaw) won in straight sets, joining Alicia Kaucher (Little Falls/Little Falls) and sophomore Katie Barlow (Shaker/Latham) in the winners’ circle.  Brittany Klotzbach (Orchard Park/Orchard/Park), who rallied to win a 10-3 tiebreak after dropping the second set, and Katie Neubeck (Avon/Avon), who won 7-6, 3-7, 12-10 also recorded victories in fifth and sixth singles, respectively.  In doubles play, Fisher won two out of the three matches to preserve the victory.
 
On Sunday, the Cardinals traveled to Utica College, where they swept the Pioneers 9-0.  The Cardinals, who won each match in straight-sets, were led by the doubles pair of Roseann Fisher (Greece Athena/Greece) and Rachelle Carinci (Oneida/Oneida) who posted an 8-0 victory at third doubles, and Hale, who recorded a 6-0, 6-0 shutout win at first singles.
 
Fisher (6-5, 3-4 Empire 8) will return to action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday to take on the visiting Bombers of Ithaca College in an Empire 8 Conference match.
