The St. John Fisher College women's basketball team improved to 4-1 in the Empire 8 Conference with a 56-46 win at Alfred University on Tuesday.
Fisher (10-6 overall) led by 19 at intermission and played 16 of its players, with 11 different players scoring.
Junior Allison Boehm (Sacred Heart/Cheektowaga) scored nine of her team-high 13 points in the first half. She also tallied six assists and five rebounds. Classmate Ashley Dean (Horseheads/Horseheads) also scored in double figures and finished with 10 points and six rebounds.
Freshman Jessica Ainslie (Honeoye/Honeoye) scored eight points, while lone senior Mary Francis (Gulf Coast/Naples, FL) finished with six points and six rebounds.
Ashley Napoleone (Batavia Notre Dame/Batavia) shot 2-for-3 from 3-point range and finished with seven points. Freshman Kristen Taliento (Rush-Henrietta/Henrietta) grabbed six rebounds and scored two points.
Freshmen Jen Van Oss (Archbishop Alter/Dayton, OH), Mary Kate Comfort (Orchard Park/Orchard Park), Caitlin Grady (Nardin Academy/Buffalo), Katelyn Touhey (Maine-Endwell/Johnson City) and Kellie Leathem (Catholic/Troy) also scored in the win.
Fisher will return to action at 6 p.m. on Friday and will host Elmira College. The Cardinals defeated Elmira 87-59 in last year’s Empire 8 Conference Championship game.
