The St. John Fisher College women’s tennis team improved to 8-3 overall and 4-1 in the Empire 8 Conference, as the Cardinals defeated host Alfred University 7-2 on Wednesday.
The Cardinals won five matches singles to earn the win. Alicia Kaucher (Little Falls/Little Falls) won 6-1, 6-2 at third singles to seal the win.
Katie Girvin (Gates-Chili/Rochester), Katie Griffin (Hilton/Hilton) and Katie Barlow (Shaker/Latham) won at second, fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
Megan Peters (Chenango Valley/Binghamton) won 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 at fourth singles.
Kaucher and Lauren Jones (Clarence/Clarence) teamed up for an 8-3 win at second doubles, while Peters and Girvin also won 8-3 at third doubles.
Fisher will return to action on Saturday and will host Hartwick College.
