The St. John Fisher College men's basketball team used a 10-0 run late in the game and rallied to defeat SUNY Cortland 82-76 on Friday in the opening round of the White Rose City Classic, hosted by York College.
With the win, Fisher (5-1) advances to Saturday's championship game and will face host York at 3 p.m.
Fisher trailed 68-65 with four minutes left, but took the lead for good, thanks to a 10-0 run over the next two minutes. Dan Mueller scored six of Fisher's 10 points during the run on back-to-back 3-pointers.
The senior guard finished the game with a career-high 19 points. Cortland cut Fisher's lead down to two with 10 seconds left, but Mueller put the game out of reach with two free throws.
Dan McSweeney and Justin Beigel each finished with 16 points, while freshmen Chris Baltz and Matt Newman combined for 17 points.
