Volleyball Wins In Five At Fredonia

The St. John Fisher College volleyball team won 3-2 over host SUNY Fredonia on Wednesday night.  Fisher (11-17), who rallied from a 2-1 deficit, posted 30-17 and 15-5 wins in the final two games.
 
Sophomore Alyssa Ziobrowski (Lewiston-Porter/Lewiston) led the Cardinals with 20 kills, while also recording eight blocks and three digs. 
 
Senior Kristi Pallotta (Liverpool/Liverpool) finished with 17 digs, nine kills and three aces.
 
Sophomore Jenna Engel (Batavia/Batavia) and senior Tricia Hammerl (Byron-Bergen/Bergen) each recorded 11 kills and combined for a total of eight blocks and 16 digs.
 
Junior setter Hannah Cordes (Cazenovia/Cazenovia) collected a team-high 50 assists for the Cardinals, while also adding 12 digs.
 
Senior Colleen Helak (St. Mary’s/West Seneca) tallied 26 digs, while sophomore Morgen Kandefer (Nardin Academy/Alden) chipped in with eight blocks and three kills.
 
Freshman Marisa Kamholtz (Canandaigua Academy/Canandaigua) posted 15 digs, while classmate Jenna Waldron (Windsor/Windsor) added 11 digs.
 
Fisher returns to action on Saturday, November 4 in the Empire 8 Conference Tournament.  The Cardinals will enter as the fourth seed and play host R.I.T. in their first match.  This is the 32nd time that Fisher has made the postseason in the program’s 33-year history.
