Women's Tennis Takes Fourth At E8 Championship

The St. John Fisher College women’s tennis team finished the weekend 1-2 in the Empire 8 Conference Championship, including a victory over Alfred University, and placed fourth in the eight-team tournament.
The third-seeded Cardinals defeated sixth-seeded Alfred University in the first round on Saturday.  Fisher dropped its next two matches to second-seeded Nazareth and fourth-seeded R.I.T. 
Katie Griffin (Hilton/Hilton) finished undefeated in singles matches with a 3-0 record, including two victories in fifth singles.  Katie Barlow (Shaker/Latham) and Alicia Kaucher (Little Falls/Little Falls) each went 1-1 for the tournament, while Megan Peters (Chenango Valley/Binghamton) and Katie Girvin (Gates-Chili/Rochester) finished 1-2 in singles competition, picking up points against Alfred University.
Girvin and Peters teamed up and compiled a record of 2-1 in third doubles, while Kaucher and Lauren Jones (Clarence/Clarence) picked up a point in doubles competition. 
Fisher ends the regular-season with a 10-6 overall record, tying the College-record for wins in a season.  The Cardinals will find out later this week if they have been selected to participate in the New York State Women’s Collegiate Athletic Association Championship.
