Ella Eckert (East Amherst/Clarence) of the St. John Fisher College women’s basketball team has been tabbed the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for action taking place during the week that concluded on January 12, 2020.

Eckert nearly averaged a double-double over the weekend as the Cardinals posted back-to-back wins in Empire 8 play after defeating Alfred and Houghton.

Eckert averaged 14.0 points and 9.5 rebounds over the week to go along with 2.5 assists and a steal per game.  The sophomore forward was 12-for-25 on the week and converted 4-of-6 chances from the free throw stripe.

Against Alfred on Friday, Eckert finished with 13 points and seven rebounds before adding her fourth double-double of the year on Saturday with a 15-point, 12-rebound performance that included seven offensive rebounds.

The Cardinals will look to keep their momentum going at 7:30 p.m. on Friday when they travel east to take on Utica College in an Empire 8 showdown.
