St. John Fisher University Athletics

Lauren Gilbert (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) of the St. John Fisher College women's volleyball team has been named the College's Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 27, 2019. The freshman led the Cardinals to two conference wins over Elmira and Hartwick as they clinched the Empire 8 regular season title for the first time in program history.

On Friday's straight-sets victory against the Soaring Eagles, Gilbert had a game-high 14 kills with a .321 hitting percentage. The outside hitter also added nine digs and three total blocks as Fisher clinched the number-one overall seed in conference postseason tournament with the win. In Saturday's 3-1 win over the Hawks, the freshman had 12 kills and 13 digs with one service ace to complete the conference season with a perfect 7-0 record. The Dublin, Ohio native's performance earned her E8 Rookie of the Week.

Gilbert and the Cardinals finish out their regular season at the Brockport Invite with three non-conference matches. They will face St. Lawrence University at 6:30 p.m. on Friday before going head-to-head on Saturday with Clarkson University at 1:30 p.m. and the host Golden Eagles at 3:30 p.m.
