Katie Mazierski of the volleyball team has been named the St. John Fisher College Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending on October 23rd, 2016.
Mazierski led the team’s offense this week as the Cardinals went 2-1, clinching the No. 4 spot in the Empire 8 Championship.
The North Tonawanda, NY native racked up 39 kills over the three-game span, leading all Cardinals on the week. Mazierski put up double-digit kills in two of the games, including a career-high 17 in the win over Alfred University on Saturday.
Aside from at the net, the 5-foot-6 junior also impressed in the back row. Mazierski dug a total of 39 balls for Fisher, adding to her team-high total of 291 on the season. In the previously mentioned Alfred game, she led all players with 21 digs. Â
Fisher will return to the court at 6 p.m. on Wednesday as the team hosts the Red Dragons of Cortland for senior day.
