Emily Markarian of the field hockey team has been named the St. John Fisher College Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending on October 2nd, 2016
Markarian scored a goal in each of the team’s contests over the week, helping the Cardinals earn a 2-0 record and increase their record-breaking win streak to seven straight.
The junior earned her first goal of the week in a 4-1 victory over Geneseo, bypassing the goalkeeper with a shot off a penalty corner. Markarian doubled up her goal total in Saturday’s home win over Ithaca, cashing in on a rebound.
On the season, the Orchard Park, NY native has produced a team-high 20 points (8 goals, 4 assists). Markarian has also scored at least one goal in six-straight games and recorded at least one point in seven.
Fisher will return to the field on at 5 p.m. on Tuesday as the team will go to battle against cross-city rival the University of Rochester.
