St. John Fisher College’s Lindsey Thayer of the softball team has been selected as the College’s Female Athlete of Week for the week ending May 1st, 2016.
Although Fisher went 0-2 on the week, Thayer set a new school record for strikeouts in a single season with 299, breaking her own record of 294 that she set last season. In the 1-0 loss to Alfred Thayer gave up a solo home run on the first at bat of the game and did not give up another hit for the remainder of the contest, striking out 15 batters total.
Fisher ends the regular season 30-8 overall, and is currently ranked No. 22 in the latest national coaches poll, and No. 2 in the NCAA Division III Northeast Region. The Cardinals will travel to Ithaca to face Utica College in semifinals of the Empire 8 Conference Championship on Friday.
