Tyler Hart (Columbia/East Greenbush) of the St. John Fisher College men’s basketball team has been selected as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 11, 2015.
In a 3-0 week for the Cardinals, Hart averaged 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals, while shooting 12-for-18 (66.7%) from the floor, including 7-of-11 (63.6%) from 3-point range.
The junior’s best game came on Saturday, as he scored 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the field, including a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc in Fisher’s 102-65 win over visiting Hartwick College. He also added six rebounds and four assists in the win.
Hart tallied six points in Fisher’s 73-59 win over Stevens Institute of Technology on Friday and started the week with eight points in a 92-61 victory at Ithaca College on Tuesday.
Fisher (12-2 overall, 5-0 Empire 8) has won 10 straight games – the sixth-longest winning streak in the program’s 52-year history – and is off to its best start in five years.
Fisher will return to action at 8 p.m. on Tuesday Jan. 20 and will host Empire 8 rival Alfred University.
