St. John Fisher University Athletics

St. John Fisher College’s Katie Mazierski (Niagara Wheatfield/North Tonawanda) of the volleyball team has been named as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 26, 2014.

In each of the three matches, the freshman led Fisher in digs, tallying 59 over the week. The Cardinals went 2-0 in its final weekend of Empire 8 action and 2-1 overall. Mazierski has recorded the most digs for Fisher this season with 359 in 100 sets played.

The defensive specialist started the week with 20 digs in a 3-0 loss to visiting Rochester Institute of Technology on Tuesday.

At the Empire 8 Crossover on Saturday, Mazierski matched her career-high in digs (23) against Utica College as Fisher topped the host Pioneers 3-1. She added to her day total in a 3-0 victory over Elmira College with 16 digs.

Fisher closes its regular season at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Saturday at a non-conference tri-match hosted by SUNY Geneseo.
