Sydney Bloomstein (Millbury MA, Millbury Memorial) of the St. John Fisher College women’s basketball team has been selected as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 12, 2014.
Bloomstein scored in double figures in back-to-back games against Hartwick College and Stevens Institute in a 1-1 week for the Cardinals. The junior has now scored in double-digits in three consecutive contests.
Fisher, hosting both contests in the weekend, dropped a hard fought battle, 71-68, to Hartwick College on Friday. Bloomstein chipped in 10 points, three rebounds, and one assist.
On Saturday Bloomstein scored a season-high 17 points as the Cardinals knocked off Stevens Institute 74-58. Bloomstein also pulled down five rebounds and three assists.
The Cardinals sit at 8-5 overall and 1-2 in the Empire 8 Conference.
Fisher will be back in action at 8 p.m. on Friday when it hosts Ithaca College.
