St. John Fisher College’s Morgan Mastin (Wayland-Cohocton/Springwater) of the women’s track and field team has been named as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending May 19, 2013.
Several Cardinals participated in the 2013 ECAC Championship, which they qualified for with great efforts throughout the season. Mastin saw action in three different events, setting personal records while helping Fisher show well at the Championship.
Mastin was part of the 4x100 relay team that also included teammates Audrey Bowers, Nicoletta Lattuca and Rachel Wolcott. The team finished in 20th place with a team of 50.48 seconds.
The sophomore also contributed as an individual, running in both the 400 and 200-meter dashes. She set a personal record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.80 seconds, finishing in 27th place. Mastin sprinted the 200-meters in 26.62 seconds, which was good for a top 50 finish.
Fisher track and field made great strides in just its second year since starting the program. Mastin and the team will look to progress even more in the 2013-14 seasons.
