Sammy Robinson (Cedarhurst/Lawrence) of the St John Fisher College men's basketball team has been named the College's Male Athlete of the Week after helping lead the Cardinals in two Empire 8 Conference victories over Houghton and Hartwick over the past week.
The junior kicked off the Cardinals's conference schedule with a 19-point outing in the 92-70 win over the Highlanders on Friday evening. Robinson led the way for the Cardinals posting a double-double with 10 rebounds, while shooting 7-11 from the field and finishing with four assists.Â
The Cedarhurst native capped off the two-game weekend with another double-double performance in the Cardinal 88-69 win over the Hawks. Robinson finished the Empire 8 matchup with a 18 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and two steals.Â
After the first 10 games of the season, Robinson currently leads the Cardinals averaging 20.9 points per game, while also averaging 7.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per gameÂ
The men's basketball team returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Union College for a non-conference matchup at 7 p.m.
