Jason Norsen (Frontier/Hamburg) of the St. John Fisher College men’s basketball team has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending December 2, 2012.
The senior recorded three outstanding performances in each of the Cardinals’ games during the 47th annual Wendy’s College Classic, in which the team placed fourth out of eight teams.
On Tuesday, in a first round 85-72 win against visiting The College at Brockport, Norsen recorded his eighth career double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds, also adding six blocks.
In the semifinal round against the No. 17 University of Rochester Yellowjackets, he finished with 12 points and four blocks, also recording six rebounds in the 63-50 loss.
In a close 78-71 loss to East Avenue rival Nazareth College in the consolation contest on Saturday, Norsen led the team with 21 points and five blocks, while grabbing a team-high seven rebounds.
Fisher will return to action at 8 p.m. on Tuesday and will host Alfred University in the Empire 8 Conference season opener for both teams. It will be Fisher's fourth game in a six-day span.
