St. John Fisher College’s Camaryn Buckner (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Honeoye Falls) of the women’s basketball team has been named as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 26, 2013.
Buckner averaged 19.0 points per game on 72.2% shooting from the field in a 2-0 week for the Cardinals, also adding 9.5 rebounds per game.
She led the team with 24 points and tied a career-high 16 rebounds, also tallying three blocks in a 67-40 rout of Elmira College on Friday night avenging a 61-59 loss to the Soaring Eagles earlier in the season. It was the 27th double-double of her career.
The next day, Buckner added 14 points, three boards, and another three blocks to help Fisher close the week undefeated in an 88-65 defeat of Alfred University.
Fisher is now 11-6 overall, 4-3 in the Empire 8 Conference, sitting in fourth place in the conference standings.
The Cardinals will return to action on Tuesday when they make the short drive down East Avenue for an 8 p.m. tipoff against Nazareth College.
