Junior Jake Quattrini (Rome Free Academy/Ava) of the St. John Fisher College men’s soccer team has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 14, 2012.

In a 1-0 week for the Cardinals, Quattrini scored the game’s lone goal in a 1-0 defeat of East Avenue rival Nazareth College on Saturday. The win locked up a postseason bid to the Empire 8 Conference Championships.

The goal was scored with just under two minutes left in the first 10-minute overtime period off an assist from senior Sean Fishel (Niskayuna/Niskayuna).

Quattrini is now tied for the team lead in goals (six), points (13), and game-winning goals (three).

With the win, Fisher improves to 8-4-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the Empire 8 with a chance to clinch the No. 1 overall seed after being picked to finish last in the Empire 8 Preseason Coaches Poll.

Fisher will play its final four games at home starting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday when the Cardinals host Rochester Institute of Technology.
