St. John Fisher College’s Paige Willson (Springville/East Concord) of the women’s track and field team has been named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 15, 2012.
Willson participated in two events for the Cardinals, placing fifth in the women’s shot put event that took place at Rochester Institute of Technology. Thirty-two student-athletes from nine different colleges and universities took part in the event, with the freshman finishing in the top five. Willson, who also is a main component on the College’s volleyball team, tossed the shot 10.63 meters, just under a meter short of qualifying for ECACs.
Track and field will return to action this weekend as it travels to St. Lawrence for the SLU Invitational on Saturday.
