St. John Fisher College’s Ahmed Hassanien (Binghamton/Binghamton) of the football team has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 20, 2011.
Hassanien stepped in at quarterback midway through the second quarter for the injured Ryan Kramer to help lead Fisher to a 23-12 first round victory over Johns Hopkins University in the NCAA Division III Football Championship. On his first play from under center, the junior quarterback found Ryan Francis in the back of the end zone for a 7-yard touchdown pass.
While coming in to the game just 7-for-13 passing for 59 yards and two touchdowns on the season, Hassanien would go on to complete eight of his 13 pass attempts for a career high 162 yards and a touchdown. These numbers helped contribute to the Cardinals’ best offensive passing game of the season. As a team, Fisher was 16-for-25 through the air for 234 yards and a touchdown.
Fisher, who is now 9-2 on the season, will move on to play at Delaware Valley College (11-0) at 12 p.m. on Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Division III Football Championship.
