St. John Fisher College’s Thaddeus Weir III (East Aurora/East Aurora) of the men’s golf team has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 23, 2011.
In a week in which the Cardinals won the Nazareth Invitational at Irondequoit Country Club, Weir led the team shooting a total of 152 (74-78). Weir finished first in the standings, capturing his second win of the season, after also winning the St. Lawrence Invitational at the start of the 2011-2012 season.
The men's golf team has now won three of its four tournaments this year, and currently sits in first place at the Empire 8 Conference Tournament. The remainder of the Empire 8 Tournament will be played in April.
The team will resume play in the spring, starting with the Jekyll Island Invitational on March 16-18, 2012. The tournament is held in Jekyll Island, Georgia.
