St. John Fisher College’s Kathryn Pasier, a sophomore on the women’s tennis team, has been named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 2, 2011.
The Cardinals, with help from Pasier, finished the week 2-1. Individually, Pasier started the week by earning a point in first singles on Wednesday against SUNY Oswego after she defeated her opponent 7-5, 6-1. After dropping a second singles match on Thursday to Nazareth College 6-3, 6-3, Paiser rebounded by winning a second singles match against Elmira College 6-4, 6-3 on Sunday.
In doubles play, Paiser teamed up with Jordan Brungard for an unbeaten week. The duo opened the week on Wednesday with a win in their doubles match against SUNY Oswego. They then went on to win their second doubles matches 8-3 over Nazareth and 8-2 against Elmira.
As a team the Cardinals are now 5-4 overall and 3-2 in Empire 8 Conference action on the season.
Fisher will return to action at 2 p.m. Tuesday when it hosts the Ithaca College Bombers at the Mendon Racquet Club.
