St. John Fisher College has selected Jackie Maynard (Marcus Whitman/Stanley) of the women’s lacrosse team as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 27, 2011.
In a 1-1 week (both games were against nationally-ranked teams), Maynard led the No. 20 Cardinals with nine points on three goals and six assists.
The senior enjoyed a career-best performance in Tuesday’s 17-14 win at No. 19 William Smith College.
Maynard finished with two goals and a career-high six assists in the win (one shy of the Fisher single-game record). After the Cardinals fell behind 4-0, Fisher tied the game at 4-4 with Maynard assisting on all four goals.
Both of her goals came in the second half, including the eventual game-winner with 8:25 left, giving her team a 15-12 lead.
On Saturday, Maynard scored a goal in Fisher’s 18-7 loss at No. 2 Hamilton College. The loss snapped Fisher’s four-game winning streak.
For the season, Maynard ranks second on the team in assists with 11, while also scoring six goals. For her career, she has 32 goals and 25 assists.
Fisher will return to action this weekend, opening up Empire 8 Conference action. The Cardinals will play at Elmira College on Friday and Ithaca College on Saturday.
