St. John Fisher College has named Jason Norsen (Frontier/Hamburg) of the men’s basketball team as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 13, 2011.
In a 1-2 week for the Cardinals (13-11), Norsen averaged 14.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks, while shooting 65.2% (15-for-23) from the floor and 82.4% (14-for-17) from the foul line.
On Saturday, Norsen scored a career-high 21 points and added the team-best nine rebounds in Fisher’s 71-62 win over Utica College. He shot 70% (7-for-10) from the floor and 77.8% (7-for-9) from the foul line and totaled four blocks.
In Tuesday’s 60-57 loss at Rochester Institute of Technology, he finished with 12 points and six rebounds, while shooting 100% (4-for-4) from the foul line. Norsen also added 11 points and three rebounds in Fisher’s 71-62 loss over Ithaca College on Friday night.
For the season, the sophomore center leads the team in rebounds (6.1 rpg) and blocks (1.5 bpg) and ranks second in the team for scoring (10.2 ppg).
The Cardinals return to action in their last regular-season game at 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Nazareth College.
