St. John Fisher University Athletics

Alexa Capozzi (Fayetteville-Manlius/Manlius) of the St. John Fisher College soccer team has been named as the Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week and the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 17, 2010.

Capozzi led the Cardinals to two decisive wins this week over Wells College and Elmira. In the 7-0 win over Wells College on Wednesday, Capozzi netted a hat-trick by scoring on all three shots she attempted. She scored two of the goals in the first ten minutes of the match. In the 3-0 win over Elmira on Saturday, she netted one goal on two shots.

For the season, the freshman forward/midfielder has four goals on ten shots with nine shots on goal, including one game-winning goal against Wells College.

Fisher will return to action for the final home game of the year on Wednesday night. It is senior night against Empire 8 opponent Alfred with game time at 7 p.m.
