In a 2-0 week for Fisher, currently ranked No. 1 in the NCAA Division East Region, Newman averaged 15.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
Newman, who entered Tuesday night’s game at Rochester Institute of Technology with 999 career points, became the 18th player in Fisher’s 46-year history to reach the 1,000-point plateau in the Cardinals’ 74-57 win.
The senior finished with a career-high 23 points, while shooting 6-for-10 from the floor and 2-for-4 from 3-point range. He also went 9-for-10 from the foul line and missed having a doub le-double by just one rebound.
In Friday’s win at Elmira College, Newman totaled eight points and eight rebounds, lifting the Cardinals to a 72-65 victory.
For the season, Newman ranks second on the team in scoring (11.6 points per game), rebounds (6.0 rpg), assists (2.8 apg) and steals (1.3 spg).
For his career, Newman ranks third at Fisher in games played (107), sixth in assists (323) and 17th in scoring (1,030).
Fisher will return to action at 8 p.m. on Tuesday and will host Alfred University.
