The St. John Fisher College volleyball team battled back from several severe deficits to hand the Medaille College Mavericks a 3-1 loss in the opening round of the ECAC Tournament on Wednesday night at Manning and Napier Varsity Gym. On Saturday, the Cardinals had their season come to an end, as the Cardinals lost 3-1 to host Elmira College in the semifinals of the ECAC Upstate Championship.
Braun led the Cardinals with 23 assists in Wednesday’s win, and totaled 48 assists for the week. She also came through on the defensive side with 26 digs during the two contests. In her final career game against Elmira, she led the team with 25 assists and 22 digs. Braun ended her season by leading the team in assists (766), in average assists per game (5.72), and in hitting percentage (.318). She also totaled 171 kills, 337 digs and 78 total blocks over her 134 games played.
In her 252 games over her two years with the Cardinals, Braun totaled 1,717 assists, 234 kills, 615 digs, and 143 total blocks. Her 1,717 assists puts Braun eighth all-time in the Fisher record books for career assists. With the loss, Fisher finishes the season with a 20-19 overall record, marking the second time in the last 10 years that the Cardinals have reached the 20-win plateau.
