The St. John Fisher College Athletic Department has named #Katie Neubeck# of the women’s tennis team as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 28, 2008.
In four matches, all Empire 8 Conference battles, #Nuebeck# led the Cardinals to two wins to lift the team’s overall record to 4-5 overall, 3-4 in the Empire 8. She posted a 3-1 record at fourth singles, and earned points for Fisher on two occasions with second doubles partner #Lauren Jones#.
Neubeck was instrumental in both of the Cardinals’ points in a 7-2 loss to local-rival Nazareth College on Thursday, as she posted a straight-sets win (6-0, 7-5) at fourth singles, and teamed with Jones for a 9-8 win in doubles action.
On Sunday, the senior posted another pair of wins at fourth singles (6-0, 6-2) and second doubles (8-0), to help guide the Cardinals to a 9-0 decision over the visiting Utica College Pioneers.
For the season, Neubeck owns a 6-3 record on the singles side, including wins in each of her last three matches, and has a 5-4 mark with doubles partner Jones.
The Cardinals will return to action at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday to battle the Bombers of Ithaca College, who currently sit in first place in the Empire 8 Conference standings.
